Breakfast and After School Clubs

Breakfast Club
Smithy Street Primary School runs its own Breakfast Club from 8.00am, supported by the charities Magic Breakfast and Children in Need.
Children have a choice of bagels and cereal, with juice, milk or water to drink. After they have eaten breakfast, there is a daily programme of activities, including quiet activities such as reading and board games or physical activities which are delivered by a sports coach. Breakfast is FREE and if you would like to find out more, please speak to a member of staff in the office.
Recently, Smithy Street has started a new Breakfast Station. This is a quick stop for children who may have forgotten to have breakfast that day. Located in the foyer, the Breakfast Station is a place where all children and parents can choose a piece of bagel to start their day well.
Click on our partners logos below to find out more about their work.

After School Clubs
After school clubs take place every day from 3:30pm - 4:30pm.
Most of Smithy Street’s clubs are run by members of staff who are able to share their own talents with the school’s children.  We also work with specialist teachers to provide specific clubs for example, multi-sports, judo and cricket. Clubs are a great way to help boost children’s self-esteem and confidence. They teach specific skills, can develop friendships, social skills and can help children to make progress in a wide range of areas of learning.
Children in Year 1 to Year 6 have the opportunity to sign up to clubs at the beginning of each term.  We ask for a contribution of £2.00 per week per club for pupils. We ask for a contribution of £1.00 per week per club for children who receive one of the following benefits:
  • Income Support
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance (IBJSA)
  • An income-related employment and support allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit (provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit) and have an annual income which from 6th April 2011 does not exceed £16,190 as assessed by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs*
  • Guarantee element of State Pension Credit.
If you would like to find out more about after school clubs, please speak to a member of the office staff or to Nadia, clubs co-ordinator.
