School Ethos
The establishment of the ethos of the school is a collective responsibility. I has its basis in the classroom environment, where all children should be encouraged to take a pride in, and feel responsibility for their classroom, and everyone and everything in it. A bright, attractive and interesting classroom that shows care has been taken is very important.
Children should be given the opportunity to share in decision making about the layout and use of the room, classroom rules golden time and the children should be trained to return things to their proper places and to tidy up quickly and effectively at the end of an activity.
This spreads from the classroom to the school environment – treating displays with respect; when walking round the school building asking people if they need help especially visitors or supply teachers etc.
A positive approach is important e.g. – commenting on a display that has been set up, shows the children and the staff care about the environment that we are working in.
