Year Four Trips
Whitechapel Art Gallery
4B went to Whitechapel Art Gallery to take part in an artist-led workshop. We learnt about the importance of public spaces and design. The children worked in groups to make a prototype design for a new piece of furniture to add to their classroom. After looking at the art exhibition, they worked collaboratively to design something new to add to a potential disused public space.
British Museum Trip
Year Four went to the British Museum to learn more about the Anglo-Saxons. They saw some of the Sutton Hoo artefacts and other Anglo-Saxon treasures. The children completed several fun activities, including art in the neighbouring Roman Britain section of the museum.
Tower Hill Trip
To complement their learning on London landmarks and art techniques, Year Four ventured to London's South Bank by County Hall which afforded terrific views across the river to Tower Hill and the skyline of the City of London. They used this view as an inspiration for their artwork.
Year Four headed to the British Museum to find out more about the Ancient Egyptians. As the pictures show they found many interesting artefacts to view and discuss.
Year Four headed to West London visit the Science Museum to develop their knowledge around electricity. Whilst there they attended a lecture by an actor playing the role of Michael Faraday, known as the father of electricity.
St Dunstan's Church Trip
Year Four made the short trip along Stepney Way to visit St. Dunstan's church to learn about baptism. They had a chance to look around the church, touch a 1,000 year old cross and ask lots of different questions about the way people get baptised.
Stepney City Farm Trip
Year Four took part in a 'Farm to Fork' workshop that helped to support our Design and Technology project on healthy and varied diets. Bradley's class got to try some new food and learn where our favourite food comes from.
Soanes Centre Trip
Year Four went to the Soanes Centre for a recycling workshop. They sorted out different types of rubbish and learnt how nature 'recycles' organic materials. As the pictures below show, Bradley's class had a great time searching for creepy crawlies outside, too!
Victoria Park Pond Dipping Trip
Both Year Four classes took advantage of the ponds at Victoria Park to add to their classroom learning on their Science topic of Humans and Other Animals. The weather was kind allowing perfect conditions for the children to go pond dipping and study the animals living in the habitat of the park's ponds. The pictures show 4E enjoying their turn in the ponds.
Recycling Plant trip
As part of their Geography topic about the environment, Year Four visited the Southwark Council recycling centre. They found out what happens to many of the things we recycle and how they are put back into use.
